Club Rules

CLUB RULES AND ETIQUETTE

 

1.       We are governed by the Rules of Golf published by the United States Golf Association.  Each member is required to be familiar with these rules.

2.       Call your Tee-Time Chair by Tuesday (Executive 9, call by Sunday) if you know you cannot fulfill your playing obligation that week.  If you do not know until the day of the play that you cannot participate, call the Starter at the Clubhouse.

3.       Players must check in at the Clubhouse at least 15 minutes prior to the designated tee-time.  If player is not present at that time, that player will be put back to a later group.

4.       Score cards must be signed, attested, and dated or they will be dealt with according to USGA Rule 6, #6.

5.       Circle Birdies, Chip-In or Chip-In/Birdie on scorecards.

6.       Unstaked trees -declare unplayable.  Drop ball two club lengths from where the ball lies in any direction no closer to the hole.

7.       White Stakes - out of bounds.

8.       Yellow Stakes - water hazard.

9.       Red Stakes - lateral water hazard.

10.    Sign-up sheets will be used for social functions.

11.    Please observe the rules of etiquette for your own enjoyment of the game and that of others.  Remember to stand still and refrain from talking while a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke, keep pace with the group in front of you, and replace divots and repair ball marks.



STANDING RULES

 

1.         Any questions about proper scoring should be called to the opponent's attention at the hole in question. If the problem cannot be resolved among the foursome playing together, the hole should be circled and the card NOT signed. On completion of play, the card in question should be given to a member of the Association Rules Committee.

2.         Each group shall hold an orientation meeting for its new and previous members before the first play day. This meeting will include the Association officers.

3.         Play days will start the third Tuesday in April for Executive 9 and third Thursday in April for 9 Hole and Par 3 and continue through the last Thursday in September. Attendance at Orientation will be counted toward 50% of the scheduled play days. (see Article III, Section 6 of the By-Laws)

4.         A two-stroke penalty will be assessed a player for slow play, determined by the Rules Committee, if two previous warnings have been given.

5.         The Association will give a trophy to all members for their first hole-in-one during the FWGA season in any Association activity on the Foothills Golf Course. Any additional hole-in-one will be noted on the same trophy.

6.         Each group may hold three major tournaments a season, which should be scheduled concurrently with one another.

7.         Each group shall award year-end prizes for "Most Improved Handicap, Low Putts, Low Ringer and Perfect Attendance". 



8.         Those changing groups must change after September 1 to remain eligible for year-end prizes in their previous group.

9.         A scorecard must be turned in each play day a member participates whether or not the round of golf was finished. No practice rounds permitted on play day.

10.       Foothills Golf Course markers for "ground under repair" or "unplayable conditions" will be observed by FWGA members for all tournament and play days.

11.        The League Chair and the Pro Shop will make the decision whether a play day or tournament will be canceled because of weather. When a hold is placed on play, regardless of whether play has started or waiting to start, members must wait as long as one hour to see if play can be resumed. Canceled tournaments will be played the next play day.

12.       A non-member wishing to carry a USGA-GHIN handicap will be referred to the 18 Hole Group

 

13.       If a member represents FWGA at any course for a group event on a play day, that member will be given credit for attendance in that member's group but will not be eligible for a play day prize.
